Buddhist monks join protest against killings by LTTE

Buddhist monks joined a protest by members of pro-government Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) outside the Norwegian embassy against continued killings by Tamil Tiger rebels.
Protesting members of EPDP, took the coffin of slain party activist Thambithurai Sivakumaran and placed it briefly outside the embassy.
Suspected Tiger gunmen killed him on Saturday in the north-western district of Puttalam when he was out cycling with his eight-year-old daughter.
The latest killing came as Oslo's special peace envoy Erik Solheim left here at the weekend unable to break the deadlock in the island's faltering peace process.
