Of course there are long-term supply issues to be taken seriously, but it's also a fact that after a long run-up in oil prices, you're more likely to see such stories. According to market wisdom, once a market story makes the cover of Time or Newsweek, it's time to go short the commodity in question.

Yes, but without trying to sound tooo apocalyptic, would it also be time to "short" the culture that's been using the commodity so intensively and is almost totally subservient to it?
