Before Hitler, the US was a laggard in Nobels.  The Nazis made a great contribution to US 
science chasing some of the best minds in the world across the Atlantic.

Now, the idiots in charge are closing the gates, or at least making them less welcoming.

Japanese companies are among the firms with the most patents in the US.
