<DIV>Yep. Millions of people who have lived all their lives in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, etc., can't speak Uzbek or Kazakh. They are monolingial Russian-speakers. My ex-girlfriend lived in Kazakhstan for 25 years and she can't speak a word of the language. She didn't have to. People in non-Russian countries in the CIS all watch Russian TV and get their news from Russian sources, which are considered more trustworthy. The mother of a friend of mine in Lviv learned about the airshow disaster there in 2002 by -- watching Russian TV, even though it occurred in the city in which she lived! Ukrainian TV didn't report it for a day.</DIV>
