An acquaintance just moved to
Florida and had some fun registering to vote. He and his wife filled out
the forms, and declared themselves as Dems. No ID cards came in the mail.
So they called the clerk's office to see what was up. At first, the clerk
said there was no record of the registration. When pressed, the clerk
said the registration was on hold for a wrong address.
"Impossible," the new registrant replied. Ok, said the clerk,
then it's no signatures. They went over to the registrar's office to see
the forms - the signatures had been cut off. Registrants argued, and the
clerk agreed to re-register them and hand over the ID cards on the
spot.

How much of this is going on?

Since I moved, I had to register again. I applied, but nada. Called to
find out what the problem was b/c I wanted to vote in the primaries. They
claimed no record, too. (Normally, I reg IND but I wanted to add another
drop to the Dem numbers in Limpdick!)

Got that straightened out. I tried to get my mail in reg at the same
time. Nothing doing. Had to apply for that later. When? She couldn't say.
Anyway, I called to ask a question about voting by mail -- b/c it says
new registrants have to show a photo id. I wanted to know if that would
disqualify me from voting by mail.

When they looked in database, i wasn't registered!

Got that straightened out but the next problem was that my request for an
absentee ballot was fuxored with -- twice --with my request mysteriously
disappearing. I finally picked the thing up myself.

THEN I read about someone saying they didn't want to give anyone in TX a
chance to rip up the ballot and regretted voting early by absentee
ballot.

PS -- they should hand over ID cards on the spot. When I registered to
vote back in 99, that's what they did then. I rec'd a card that day in
the Clerk's office.
