I really love this article (she is MY business guru). I even photocopied it for all the maths PhDs in my department (sorry, team), who also loved it. But Chuck is taking it a bit too far (I hope the phrase 'pro-active' was ironic!). Big organisations have always needed things other than brains in order to function, and anyone looking for personal fulfillment and development in a big organisation is looking in the wrong place. What I take from the article is that we need a sense of perspective in corporate life. --James James Greenstein --- Chuck Grimes wrote: From: Chuck Grimes Date: Tue, 23 Nov 2004 11:20:36 -0800 (PST) To: lbo-talk@lbo-talk.org Subject: [lbo-talk] no brains please, we're a big company Companies don't need brainy people...By Lucy Kellaway -------- Oh, Lucy, Lucy. You're not looking at the big picture, dear. A society based solely on its business culture and which has devolved itself into complete obsequity for the sake of its economy, not only doesn't need brains, it pro-actively destroys them and anything that even vaguely resembles them.
