Tomorrow & Friday at New School University:

Franco Modigliani and the Keynesian Legacy A New School University Conference

April 14-15, 2005

One of the greatest economists of the 20th century, Franco Modigliani (1918-2003) received a doctorate from The New School for Social Research in 1944 with a ground-breaking dissertation that provided an important cornerstone of postwar Keynesian economics. His contributions profoundly influenced macroeconomic policy debate and helped to shape contemporary understanding of the behavior of monetary and financial markets. This conference will explore Modigliani's contributions to Keynesian economics, his efforts to forge a bridge between it and neoclassical traditions, and the influence of the University in Exile on his work.
