I know of at least one person that doesn't tourist around here anymore because it costs too much to drive the 40 miles over the hill... He's waiting for the gas prices to go down(I chuckled).
If you could get an *honest* survey of what SUV drivers are thinking, I think you'd hear something very different... But what we see is the outward manifestation... Road Rage... SUVers are not prone to saying anything bad about their SUVs at the moment.
If you are waiting for the people of a personality type that would buy an SUV to tell you how badly everything is going for them, you'll be waiting a very long time.
The purchase was typically a economic mistake from the "git go" not many people like to admit their mistakes. Especially people who buy big cars to offset their little...

The working poor hold jobs closer to home. Not too many dishwashers commuting from the Bay Area to Fresno... But office managers often do.
No No... The lower middle/ middle class takes the hit. The ones that buy the SUV in puruit of the "American Dream", or at least the image of it.
