Without wanting to appear as apologist for their individual actions.

Fact, and some speculation.

I heard a report on BBC a year or so ago with an interview of a Dutch researcher that had been working on Agent Orange issues in Vietnam. He said that some of the highest concentrations were found near old Special Forces firebases... ostensibly to clear the line of fire.

However, one of my recollections of watching the news when I was adolecent (65 6 7 8), was footage of SF guys *shovelling* that stuff into the open hoppers of Cessnas and Hueys... no dust filters, bare chested in the sweltering heat on some shitty dirt landing strip.

I guess when you're loyal Government Issue it's expected that they poison *you* along with the "enemy". Who'd want to talk about it?

I suspect that the simple act of jamming the VA et al about the issue is also a blow for the Vietnamese victims, if they can get near the American legal system and afford the lawsuits(They just lost one a month or so ago), and subconciously/subvertly the Agent Orange Vets know that.... although you'd probably never get one of them to just come out and say it because it would complicate broaching their *own* issues to the appropriate parties in the bureaucracy *they* are being forced to navigate.
