About Sleeping Shark

Sleeping Shark is the weblog of Wendy Fried, a humble lawyer turned freelance journalist.

Wendy has done time as a corporate and securities lawyer, including in the belly of the beast: in-house on Wall Street. She also worked for an organization that lobbies for the securities industry, which believe you me she did not view as a higher calling. She even put in a brief stint as a tax lawyer, but quit in protest when Congress took away her student loan interest deduction. If you care about this sort of thing, you may rest assured that she graduated with honors from a fancypants law school located in a small blue state. More importantly, she has been on TV.

Politically, Wendy is a die-hard liberal. But she believes that lefties could benefit from a more sophisticated understanding of how the legal/board of directors/management/CEO/Wall Street/consulting Industrial Complex really works. (Are we getting paranoid enough for you yet?)

If you are a lawyer, Wall Streeter, journalist or anyone else who - unlike Wendy - has a real job, feel free to read Sleeping Shark before turning to those annoying work-related e-mails. Of course, you might be the type of person who's productive at your job every minute of every day, but if so you're not reading this right now because you're busy working, thus self-selecting out of Sleeping Shark's readership. Fine. Be that way. The rest of you can look forward to illuminating tidbits from a legal insider who's been around the block a few times, professionally speaking. Oh, and she makes a vow that should be required of all bloggers - she will never post pictures of her kids or her dog. So please give Sleeping Shark a glance now and then, and please hit the comment button to send your reactions and ideas.

Many thanks to Dean of Phoridfly Design for all that stuff he knows how to do and I don't.

A final word: This site does not dispense legal advice. If you need legal advice, please hire a lawyer. If you are a lawyer and you're trying to use anything on this blog in lieu of actual research, that's pathetic.
