Red Hat launches Tamil Linux

- By Our Correspondent

Chennai, April 26: Red Hat, the open source solutions provider, has launched its first Enterprise Linux Operating system to support vernacular languages.

The company launched the Tamil version of Linux v.4 here on Tuesday. This follows the launch of Linux in Hindi, Bengali and Punjabi earlier this month. The Gujarati version of Linux is scheduled to be launched next week.

"The vernacular series of Linux is expected to bridge the digital divide in India to a great extent," Mr Javed Tapia, director, Red Hat India said.
