Job Opening Editor of the Nonviolent Activist

Eighty-two-year-old peace organization seeks half-time Editor to produce (in consultation with Publications Committee) the Nonviolent Activist magazine, plan articles, contact potential authors and solicit articles, edit copy, write news briefs as needed, coordinate magazine production, oversee magazine's budget, work with database manager on subscription system and share general office duties with other staff.

Requirements include editorial experience and knowledge of magazine production; excellent writing skills; word processing and e-mail skills; commitment to nonviolence and philosophy of War Resisters League; willingness to work in collective staff environment; and knowledge of peace and justice movement

The Nonviolent Activist, the primary publication of the War Resisters League, is a 24-page bimonthly magazine of information and thought-provoking pieces on national and international issues from a pacifist perspective. It also keeps the WRL membership and other readers informed on activities and resources of the War Resisters League. The magazine is published six times a year beginning w ithJanuaryFebruary.

This is a half-time (20 hours/week plus occasional evening and weekend meetings) salaried position. Yearly salary is $17,319, with full benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation and a pension contribution of five percent.
