I've been pounding away on this point for decades, but apparently such phrases as "No wonder the left never gets any place" or "The trouble with The Left is" come too trippingly to the tongue to give them up!
It's worth continuing to pound away at though, because a precondition to resolving _any_ of those disagreements is an honest acknowledgment that they exist and that sentences about "The Left" or about "Leftists" (in general) are always mistaken (when they are not mere trivia) and often outright lies.
