The US will reportedly establish further "Information Centers for Democracy" in Central Asia .

RIA Novosti news agency, with news based on US Foreign Office press center reports, says that the Americans plan to establish new centers aiming for the promotion of democracy in Central Asia.

Such centers are already active in Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries and the formation of five more centers in Kyrgyzstan are planned, the report says, announcing the US administration has earmarked a $613,000 fund for the purpose.

A $540,000 fund has been allocated for formation of similar centers in Azerbaijan, the news agency relates, and that in these centers people would be provided easy access to the news reports and some training programs in basic organizing and advocacy skills.

The $557,000 fund for Kazakhstan will be used to ensure information exchange and coordination among independent media. In Tajikistan, $887,000 is allocated for the improvement of radio broadcasting, the training of qualified personnel for radio stations, technical assistance and the training of media employees. The US has earmarked only $80,000 for Uzbekistan.

This money will be used for the formation of "social centers" to defend the rights of those arrested in the incidents at Karsi and Andijan by promoting the rule of the law. In 2005, US Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Democracy has earmarked $43.7 million to promote democracy worldwide.

The concluding report of the fifth meeting of the Central Asian Countries Democratic Congress of various opposition parties from Central Asian countries called for toppling all Central Asian regimes, except Kyrgyzstan. The meeting was attended by opposition members from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
