As the politics of the US continues to slide to the Right, many progressives have found it difficult to maintain their bearings. The Monthly Review piece [Hart/Landsberg and Burkett's, 'China and Socialism, '] is an unfortunate example of a radical journal embracing much of the Bush hostility to China from a, "Left, ' perspective that indirectly helps cement the growing liberal-conservative consensus for war with the PRC..."
