A good leftist book on US political and popular culture on Zionism and Palestinians is, "Epic Encounters: Culture, Media, and U.S. Interests in the Middle East, 1945-2000. By Melani McAlister. Berkeley and Los Angeles: University of California Press, 2001. xv+358 pp.
As she relates in the 1st chapter she had a conservative evangelical Christian childhood influenced by what is now called, "Christian Zionism."
