Her husband, Jean-Daniel Lafond, is a French
intellectual who uses his gift for words to expound on
nationalism, the evils of capitalism and the legacy of
colonialism. He is a documentary filmmaker whose next
film, due out in 2006, tackles relations between the
United States and the Middle East over the past
quarter century.

Now, he finds himself the spouse of Canada's next
representative of the Queen...."
