sometimes people who say they are spiritual but not religious simply mean that they are not church attenders or members of a religion, but hold to values which they deem spiritual because they are seemingly abstract and have no physical manifestation, but are strongly adhered to for reasons unexplainable, except to call them "spiritual"...
which is pretty much unexplainable...
