"Andrew Stangl, president of the Society for Open Minded Atheists and Agnostics at the university, described the attack as "bizarre and terrifying." He said Mirecki, who is the group's faculty adviser, was adamant that the beating was related to the recently canceled course.
"That absolutely shocked me," he said, "because people don't do that in a civilized society."
This guy needs to wake up and give his head a shake, he's obviously not living in a civilized society anymore. The sooner Bush, Cheney and their pals on the religious right get done with it and declare the US a theocracy under King George the first the better. That way the rest of us can fully understand what kind of nutcake country we're dealing with and move on.
