You gotta love the Guv (as we merry band who worked on his campaign
called him). Dean keeps pushing the envelope and for an establishment
guy he is pretty shockingly direct.

He should probably have sugar-coated it a little bit, saying that to
win the nation-building war as *now* proposed by Bush (after all the
lies had shaken out and the "quick handoff" strategy failed) you'd
have to have had allies and a half-million troops (and standards and
rationality).
