Kuwait's MTC in Talks on Madagascar Telecoms Deal

KUWAIT (Reuters) - Kuwait's Mobile Telecommunications Co. (MTC)(TELE.KW: Quote, Profile, Research) is in talks to buy a majority stake in a mobile phone services provider in Madagasacar, the company said on Tuesday.
"(T)he company is conducting negotiations in this regard but a final agreement has not been reached yet," MTC said in a statement on the Kuwait bourse Web site, referring to a newspaper report that said it was in talks to buy a majority stake in a Madagascar mobile phone firm.
MTC, which has operations in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon and 13 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, said on Nov. 30 that it was in advanced talks on a Sudan deal.
