With the ~300 posts on the London issue, I thought I'd see something posted about this one in Miami yesterday. I forget: are we winning the war on terror?

Yes, well...everyone's very tired.
Also, it appears this man was trying to commit suicide. According to reports, he loudly claimed to have a bomb and then, reached into a bag that was bomb-less.
Unless he was too distracted (as in 'mad as a hatter') to realize the inevitable consequence of this action, we can reasonably guess he wanted to die. What did they call this in the edge-of-your-seat 90's: 'suicide by cop'?
This is very different from waiting for a London train and being shot - after a confusing chase - by plainclothes officers (who, as far as you knew in that blur of yelling and running, might have been National Front toughs) waving weapons.
And yes, I have it on good authority that we are indeed winning the Global War On Terror (or is that the Multi-generational Struggle Against Extremism? or perhaps Pan-Dimensional Tussle With The Saurians is now in vogue).
Why just the other day I ran into fashionista Condi Rice at Bergdorf Goodman and between trying on next season's Manolo Blahniks she assured everyone total victory against the Terror-nauts was right around the corner.
