Not to keep the stupid thread going, but Ann Coulter is a big McCarthy fan.
Seriously his revival is practically the backbone of her book "Treason."
There will be some real ugliness this week when twisted hagiographers on the
right like her try to raise him to the status of a national hero. It won't
be pretty because they'll have all kinds of pseudo-historical facts for
which the talking heads they will be speaking with won't have any rebuttle
since they haven't thought about that moment since the History of it was
settled; just a few anecdotes gleaned from the last George Clooney movie and
the Manchurian Candidate. The interchange will likely make the pundits
sound like they might have a point. Or maybe they'll just look crazy (no
matter how hot people think they are.)
With any luck Richard Pryor will get the bulk of the media attention because
the TV media is rarely equipped to learn enough about a national figure to
be critical of them during their passing. It's much easier to default to
honoring the dead.
at least that's been my experience.
