[lbo-talk] Narnia

I saw it last night and LOVED it. Amazingly faithful to the book -- since I read all the books in the series many times as a kid, I felt as if the movie sprang fully formed from my nine-year-old mind. Really elegantly unstated special effects too -- quite a feat to make talking lions and fauns and centaurs appear completely realistic! Tilda was beautifully, seductively wicked, too. I thought there was actually quite a bit of Christian imagery, as there is in the books -- crucifixtion, even a scene where two female mourners attend the body, resurrection -- but I hardly see why that should be objectionable. Does anyone dismiss Michaelangelo on these grounds? Fra Angelico? Al Green?
