I'm several chapters into Thomas Frank's "What's the Matter With 
Kansas." This week I could share my thoughts with the list if anybody is 
interested.

Right wing zealots like Jerry Johnston will need to be defeated before 
we can advance progressive and radical politics in this country. I've 
been aware of this guy and his mega-church, but I just caught a few 
minutes of his video Christmas card on TV. This guy has lots of money 
and is very active in fighting the culture wars.

I'll see what kind of activism we can organize against the guy here, but 
with all of that Blue State money and resources tied up on the coasts, 
there is a limit to what we can do out here at ground zero. ;-)
