I liked living in Chicago and even liked living in Lake Forest to a degree. I would have liked it more if it wasn't winter half the year however. I never found it boring. I don't know if Ravi has been to Chicago and had an uninteresting trip or if he is relying on information from others. Anyway I do like the idea of an LBO convention outside the US for the fact that traveling to the US has been made more difficult than it used to be. For some entrance to Mexico or Canada may be easier. Not for all obviously but for a few this is a possibility. It also avoids having the whole enterprise too Americanized. Dallas could be considered centrally located as could Atlanta but having spent time in both I don't think they have much to offer. Montreal is fantastic in late spring and summer. It is one of the best cities in North America vying with SF and NY for top honors in my book. Monterrey México is fantastic year round. Visiting Parque Nacional Cumbres de Monterrey in the spring or early summer is one of those truly memorable experiences that occur only occasionally. I used to go to Mexico annually. Culiacán México is far enough from Mazatlán to avoid the cruise ship BS. Just an hour and a half from the Sea of Cortéz and the worlds greatest flatwater kayaking. Cuba is fantastic except for the occasional hurricane. I would vote for Cuba next after Montreal. Havana would be great fun. I have a stash of old car parts I could bring to give away or barter for meals or drinks.
