Exactly. They had the intelligence, but more importantly they arrogantly dismissed the possibility of attacks.

^^^^^ CB: Well, that's the point in dispute. Did they arrogantly dismiss the possibility or did they wilfully ignore something that they really thought _was_ possible ?
US imperialism _is_ racist in its policies, but I don't think the leaders of the U.S. state apparatus and military doubt that peoples of color are capable of military counterattacks against the U.S. because of the racial inferiority of those peoples of color. The U.S ruling class and its military leaders know that racial inferiority is a myth, even as they employ and perpetuate that myth to divide the U.S. working class , foment hate of "foreigners" , etc.
