That may work in Europe, but I doubt it would work here.  In Netherlands,
Belgium or Germany, a pedestrian can walk on the road confident that the
traffic would stop.  Here, you cannot be sure even if you cross at a green
light.  People are too much sold to the idea of me-individualism here.
