"57% of Americans study, practice, or do some type of artistic activity. Our November-December 2003 general population survey of 2,013 people showed that more than half of all American adults say they engage in some type of artistic activity. Projecting the results onto the entire U.S. population, this finding means that roughly 114 million Americans play musical instruments, sing, do creative writing, draw, paint, dance, act, make films and engage themselves in many other forms of artistic pursuit."
