At least in this part of the world, if you have 50 rubles and are in a hurry, you can either a) get a couple of burgers at McDonalds, and you will know exactly what the taste and quality will be like, or b) get a schwarma or something at a street kiosk, which for all you know may be made of pigeon meat and be swimming with bacteria. This has been changing in the past few years with the explosion of Russian fast-food outlets like Russian Bistro and Tiny Potato, but for a long time Mickey D's was the only option.
