And after all these years, Bob Marley's "Time will Tell" (supposedly a message to the thugs who tried to assassinate him) is still right on time:

"...Jah would never give the power to a baldhead Run come crucify the dread

Time alone, oh! time will tell Think you're in heaven but you're living in hell Think you're in heaven but you're living in hell Think you're in heaven but you're living in hell..."

One of the structural features of the US Empire was -- and is -- the self-serving fiction that this is the richest, freest, greatest society which ever existed. (It was merely the most heavily capitalized, until East Asia and the EU showed up). Now the US Empire is collapsing, and it wants to take the entire planet with it. But we can't hate ordinary Americans for what a monstrous system has turned them into.
