Only time I saw Allen Ginsberg speak he was in a suit. A Rainbow Gathering freak asked why. Allen said that Punch Sulzberger, in the mid-70's, had told him after telling Allen that he had been right about the CIA and drug running, then said that he'd get more people to listen to his radicalism if he wore a suit.
