Michael Dawson: It's the left's job to create the consciousness and energy it would take to fight imperialism. Without a stronger left, it won't happen. Hence, that's why Churchill is a traitor. He just reduced the chances people will listen to us, and made it necessary for real opponents of U.S. foreign policy to goout of their way to explain that they aren't insane assholes.
^^^^ CB: I disagree that lefts are victims of Churchill's statement. There is an exaggeration of the likely effect of Churchill's essay in closing the minds of "Americans" to left arguments that U.S. imperialism is the root cause of the 9/11 attacks. This is especially true the further 9/11 fades into the past. Instead of spending time complaining about Churchill, the left should be finding ways to shift the discourse from the innocence of the WTC victims to the real issue: Stop U.S. imperialism or suffer more deaths, no matter how innocent anybody is.
