BANGALORE: NVIDIA Corporation, the global leader in graphics and digital media processors, on Tuesday announced the opening of its new design centre in Bangalore.
The company will begin with 23 employees, which will go up to 100 in a year. High-end chip design and processor architecture work will be done at Bangalore.
At a press meet here, Mr Jen Hsun-Huang, president and CEO, NVIDIA said extraordinary talent that India offers was one of the reason for the India presence.
He said, “NVIDIA spends over half a billion dollars each year on R&D and we have no problems in spending around 25% of this in India.” That would work to about quarter billion dollars. “We know from experience that India is home to some of the world’s brightest engineers, as many of our top employees today are originally from there,” he added.
Though India is a fast growing market for PCs, very few of the systems that get sold in the country have graphics processors in them.
