Methodists are a notoriously diverse bunch. Bush and Cheney are both Methodists. So are Hillary Clinton and John Edwards.
And it's not like Baptists, where super liberal Baptists and super conservative Baptists belong two different churches that share a name. The Methodists are still all in the same church. So naturally there is a fair amount of talk of an imminent split.
