Seems somewhat optimistic, rather it may be that the occupation has only just begun. Just as the US empire comes to resemble the Roman empire, perhaps its occupation of Iraq might come to resemble the Roman occupation of Judea. Already we have seen massive civilian carnage, along with temples and whole cities razed to the ground by the frustrated Legions of Empire. This is the same strategy used by the Romans in Judea. Unsuccessfully for the most part. Might we not again see great martyrs arise and even new religions eventually created? Clearly the overwhelming military might of the world Empire is unable be destroyed by the patriotic zealots and assassins of Iraq. Irresistible force meets indestructible resistance.
