Nexthop opens centre in Bangalore

The Economic Times Saturday, January 22, 2005

BANGALORE: NextHop Technologies, the leader in providing network software solutions, has opened its India development centre in Bangalore.

Speaking to ET, Timothy Bean, vice-president, engineering, said that they did look at offshore options through third-party vendors but ultimately decided to set up their own operations.

“We want our employees to have ownership of the product that they will build here. They will take full responsibility for systems solutions and management of the same,” he said.

The company started operations in Bangalore a few months ago with Indians from its US operations moving back. *While Bean would not divulge information on potential team strength here, he said that in the next couple of years, about 30-40 per cent of NextHop’s development work would be done out of Bangalore. *

NextHop develops and markets network routing software solutions, partnering with customers and the industry.

NextHop's customers are building products for the network edge, server, firewall, LAN switch markets and beyond, said Bean. He explained that the company’s flagship product, GateD, the de facto standard, is the most widely used vendor-neutral routing software in the world.
