HYDERABAD: Computer Sciences Corporation (FY2004 revenues: $14.8 billion, Fortune 500 rank in 2004: 171, NYSE: CSC, url: http://www.csc.com) India has joined the company’s global innovation programme. As part of the programme, Computer Science Corporation India will initiate research and development activities in the areas of networks, storage and security.

In line with the development, CSC’s operations in Hyderabad would be upgraded to the top level of its global network. Also, CSC will start major R&D programmes in Hyderabad with significant capacity addition in the development centre.

Addressing the press, CSC vice-president (global engineering services and technical architecture) William S Burkirk said, “CSC India’s Hyderabad centre is going to play a crucial role not only in terms of supporting these services but also in helping the global team develop innovative products”.

Elaborating on the kind of research to be done out of India, Burkirk said, “CSC is going to support result-driven services from its India centres. These products are customer-specific, innovative and flexible”.

Without going into specifics on investments and human resource addition, Burkirk said, “We are in the first phase of planning. The numbers will be significant. CSC India’s operations in both Noida and Hyderabad will be engaged in R&D activities.”
