To tell the truth, I have only run into it once. I was up in a hippie community in Humboldt County a few years ago and one woman insisted on speaking of "herstory" and insisted that the word "history" was sexist. Thought it might be the same brilliant philologist who enlighted Doug about the word "terrorist".
