Consistent popular success across time & space, like Murdoch's, is an achievement, yes. You may find the product vulgar and reactionary, but it's not easy to create stuff that people snap up in huge quantities. It's lively, often clever, funny - evil & creepy a lot of the time, but seductive. Next to that, Britney is a flash in the pan - not untalented, but no Rupe.
