I hope I am wrong, but the Spanish case was quite different, Blair is riding high for lots of reasons already mentioned; he hasn't tried to use the attacks in the crude and heavy-handed way that the Spanish Conservatives did, and no election looms, so Blair can continue to disregard public opinion as he has in the past. We'll see. jks
