Why not? "Socialist," unless we are using the word in a utopian sense, refers to the ownership of the means of production, not to the behavior of members of society or its military.
PS there are situations in war in which bombing populated cities is unavoidable. (I am not saying that the firebombing of Dresden falls in this category.)
