i thought James was talking about the research that came out in Harper's and elsewhere (maybe on NPR?) that the terrorist bombings in Italy were not so much against the u.s., but against europe and part of a strategy of taking back europe.

that is a quick summary and I may have gotten it wrong. I posted about it here around the time of the bombings. it was a really good article.
