....came across this curious article from the Independent. This is of course dated July 10, and has clearly been overtaken by events and other speculative tributaries, but it goes to the point that this story, clearly at odds with most other angles on the London bombings does not make it a 'conspiracy theory' - it is just another theory - in this case one that, in hindsight, does not seem to hold much water. (it may also indicte that people around here don't read the Independent any more)

Police and intelligence agents are investigating the theory that a gang of white "mercenary terrorists" was hired by al-Qa'ida to carry out last week's devastating attacks on London.

The Independent on Sunday can reveal today that investigations into the bombings of three Tube trains and a bus, which left at least 49 people dead, are focusing on the possibility that criminal gangs were paid to mount the worst atrocities in British history.
