[lbo-talk] Lieberman: "Roberts a decent guy"

The question is really how to fight him. An important goal should be to highlight the issues that worry progressives -- Roe, Commerce Clause, sovereign immunity, takings, etc. -- and get Roberts as much on the record as possible. The goal should be to educate the public about these issues as much as possible.

If Roberts lies on the stand about his views , it will actually support a much tougher grilling of followup appointments to the bench.

Too much of discussion on the Court is just about Roe, and progressives should be highlighting the pro-corporate decision-making power of the Court. Roberts as a corporate lawyer emblem of that should be a good foil for raising the issues and helping to change the context of discussions about the Court.

Barring divine or satanic intervention, Roberts is a done deal, right? Isn't it a waste of time and resources to fight it?
