[lbo-talk] Can anyone debunk (or point me to a good debunking of) the idea of liberal hegemony on campus?

So.

A good friend of mine is a big fan of the American cable television program **Bullshit** starring Penn and Teller of 'cool illusionist' fame.

A recent show, featuring Earth's mightiest idiot, Le Horowitz, 'debunked' the idea of college by mentioning, among other 'bullshitty' sorts of things, the PC domination of college campuses by an intolerant, lefty cadre that has zero time for 'opposing points of view'.

During the program, Prof. Chomsky is asked if he believes there's a liberal consensus -- an empire of leftier than thouness that brooks no competition -- on American campuses. Reportedly, he dismissed this by saying it may amount to 2 percent of the college/university scene's composition.

Penn and Teller were outraged.

Now I'm sure there's all kinds of things wrong with this (that is, the assertion that liberals rule American higher education with a Stalin like grip) but I'm light years removed from the whole grad and post grad groove that I haven't a clue where to start ripping into it.

Any ideas?
