I don't know what the number actually is I just grabbed the number Jordan used in this post to illustrate the point:
"Wait, let's back up for a minute: 15.6% of the population doesn't have insurance (holy smokes, health insurance is "within the means" of 84.4% of the entire population!)." [JH]
Sorry if it wasn't clear I wasn't claiming that number was accurate. How does someone who has insurance for only part of the year get listed? As insured or uninsured? I assume insured but I don't know for certain.
If people move in and out of coverage what percent of US citizens spend some of their life with no health insurance? This means more than a snapshot of data to me and to most people I should think. Having insurance for 85% of your life won't mean a damn thing if you break your back or are diagnosed with cancer during the 15% of the time you don't have coverage.
