[lbo-talk] Pods: Surpassing the Gulag in Scalability

The gulags ain't got nothin' on what the US has done to so many people in so many places in their own country(Any on the rez here? South Central?) that even the simplest rationalization makes me think of weasels... and weasel words. You can rationalize it all you want, gulag's not the word...

So what DO you call the *mass incarceration* of the poor, and people of color in America? Take your eyes off the history books and dictionaries, and look around.

Just in case you've never been on the inside:

This is a Pod... Welcome home(minimum security style): http://www.radialomniview.com/index.php

It's kinder, gentler, and meets all the upcoming revisions for prisoner "safety".

<...> The Chapter (similar to County political subdivision) of Gadii'ahi of the Navajo Nation, located about ten miles from Shiprock New Mexico, passed a resolution to utilize the first OmniView Incarceration Complex. This new complex will include a 68 bed jail, a revenue generating 256 bed leased juvenile inmate incarceration facility, a World Class Detention Officer Training Academy and a paid (free world wages) inmate vocational training skills, You Visited Me, Inc., not-for-profit Construction Trades, Education, Training, Employment & Experience Program complex. <...>

Note that their biggest(perhaps only) purchaser to date appears to be a Navajo Nation group. There are almost 4 times as many juvie slots as there are adult... Start the institutionalization young, train them in useful things like booking airline reservations(no pun intended) or waterbed manufacturing(notoriously unhealthy work).
