It got stomped upon, and so did Mike Rotkin's political clout. He "shot his wad" for his developer buddies(and so did the only Chicano on the council, Tony Madrigal). We'll see what happens when these scumballs rewrite the general plan in a couple of years.

It won't be pretty at any point. Most of MR's constituency that remains after the dot-bust are more interested in standard of living issues than developing a mega-convention center right ON the beach. They moved here, to a large extent, FOR the beach, or they would have just moved on to Schaumberg Ill, Phoenix AZ, or Plano, TX... or where ever it is that displaced computer industry workers in th US go to beg jobs & lattes.
