[from ABC's The Note] "We finally got a winning team. Now they're going to hand it over to a convicted felon who wants to legalize drugs and who lives in New York and spent $5 million trying to defeat the president? How's he going to get him out to the opening game?" - Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA) on George Soros's bid for the Nats <<<<<>>>>>

the same tom davis whose political fundraising committee was in violation of federal campaign finance laws for a couple of years, who after raising boodles of corporate cash as chair of republican national campaign committee some years ago became chair of house gov't reform committee *and* immediately sponsored legislation relaxing procurement oversight, who - as chairman of house gov't reform committee - quickly brought hearings on contracts in iraqi to close after some member started asking questions about connections/relationships between certain gov't officials and companies receiving contracts, and who - for good measure - suggests that those who criticize current prez re. iraq are giving aid and comfort to enemy, therefore, negative comment are potentially treasonous acts, yes, that tom davis... michael hoover

btw: any listers ever heard of s.c. case called _hawaii v midkiff_, anyone know what it was about...
